Announcement: E-learning series on Co-occurring Disorders – TOPIC 5: Post Trauma Stress Disorder (PTSD) on 22 January, 2019

Dear Colleagues,

Have you ever wondered why your patients started to use drugs? Why do they keep repeating bad behaviors? Why are their attitudes and emotions so turbulent and difficult to control? Or does the patient start using drugs to forget, comfort and calm themselves?

The answer, partly perhaps, is that patients are having problems with past experiences and traumatic events, scientifically called Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Firstly observed in American veterans after the Vietnam War, the disease has become more and more popular and may be a factor to explain the substance use behavior in patients.

The lecture will be provided to help provide the most basic knowledge about PTSD. With online interaction, the lecture is intended to bring new and useful knowledge for the staff working in the field of addiction treatment.
